Pigozzi Palace

Pigozzi Palace

The palace was built in the second half of the XVIII century on the properties of Teodoro Vanini, the liege lord of the Mensa del Vicariato of Mantua. The architectural structure was finished on 11 May 1771. It is a baroque proposal of the traditional “sezione Aurea” (Golden Section) by Leon Battista Alberti.
The Renaissance classical structure is recognizable by the size and proportions of all the inner parts that form the whole structure. We can see the balance of the “sezione Aurea albertiana” (Alberti’s Golden Section) from the plan and the volume.
Pigozzi Palace has a permanent exhibition entitled “Gli arnesi della musica” with more than 300 ethnic musical instruments from all over the world; every month, the Palace exposes prestigious anthological exhibitions with great interpreters and protagonists of contemporary and modern art. Some artists that exposed here were Ligabue, Maccari, Brindisi, Treccani, Borra, Manzù, Trebeschi, Borghi, Ghiacci, Toniato, Rossini, Goya, Piranesi, Pizzinato, De Chirico, Mirò, Braque among others and art works on canvas dating back to the end of the XIX century were exposed here together with wonders of Lanteri, Dolfini, Vidoni and Colognese.
The Palace can hosts ceremonies, wedding receptions, parties, meetings and conventions.

 WHERE IT IS:
Pigozzi Palace is near the Po river and its banks, in an evocative place of the Comune (Municipal District) of Pieve di Coriano. The Palace is located in Mantua province, near a crossroads that joins important towns and cities such as Bologna, Ferrara, Verona, Modena, Padova and approaches to them but at the same time it remains in the middle of the countryside of the so-called basso mantovano (the lower part of Mantua province). The Palace can be reached easily coming out from the tollgates of Mantua (A22), Verona and Padova (A4), Ferrara (A13), Modena and Bologna (A1); it is also easy to reach the Palace through the river from the close tourist harbours of Pieve di Coriano and Revere, the two villages that receive the cruise ships that go up the Po river from Venice to Pavia.
