This is one of the most ancient monuments in Basso Mantovano. It first appears in documents in 1059, but it seems to be really older.
Its Latin Cross layout and three apses remind of St. Mary church in Cluny (France) and Santa Maria church on Polirone island. Still, it has pentagonal counterforts and it reuses also Roman crocks and bricks from previous buildings.
