Oratory of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie dell'Alberone

Oratory of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie dell'Alberone

  • Address: via Madonna dell`Alberone Dosolo ITA

This oratory was opened on 17 May 1665.

Around 1660, while workers were demolishing a portico of the house of the affluent Giuseppe Bottesini at Alberone (the name is thought to stem from the dialect word albaron, an augmentative of tree), a picture of the Virgin Mary on the arch being demolished turned from east to north and remained prodigiously suspended on the pillar.
The locals cried miracle and Bottesini was so ecstatic at the honour afforded him by the Blessed Virgin that he promised to build a small sanctuary to pay homage. The news of the miracle spread and drew huge numbers of pilgrims.
