Oratory of the Beata Vergine di Loreto

Oratory of the Beata Vergine di Loreto

The division of Commessaggio into two entities stems from the fact that the larger is a comune, whereas the smaller (called ‘Inferiore’ not because smaller, but for its position in relation to the Navarolo river) is a hamlet of Sabbioneta.

Built in 1721 for the Comunità di Oltreponte under the patronage of the Duke of Sabbioneta and Guastalla, Antonio Ferdinando Gonzaga, the oratory of the Beata Vergine Lauretana stands on the right bank of the Navarolo River, with soaring and elegant architecture.
